When I'm gone

There's another world inside of me
That you may never see
There're secrets in this life
That I can't hide
Somewhere in this darkness
There's a light that I can't find
Maybe it's too far away
Or maybe I'm just blind

So hold me when I'm gone
Right me when I'm wrong
Hold me when I'm scared
And love me when I'm gone
Everything I am
And everything in me
Wants to be the one
You wanted me to be
I'll never let you down
Even if I could
I'd give up everything
If only for your good
So hold me when I'm here
Right me when I'm wrong
You can hold me when I'm scared
You won't always be here
So love me when I'm gone...

"The nights of wonder...with friends surrounded" just like the good ol' days

I'm at home...catching up with friends...hanging out with all my boys whom I have missed their company so badly in the past couple of years...reliving the good memories and having tons of - and I literally mean 'tons' of - pure, shear fun. Such an amazing feeling to be around the people that you truly love: close family and dear friends.

My spirits are high...so high...despite the low speed of the internet which is really annoying but I've got so many other things that keeps me happily busy.

I should do this more often...way more often!

'This' cannot be more fitting for this moment!

Song: Time
Artist: Pink Floyd
Written by: Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Richard Wright

Ticking away the moments
That make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours
In an off-hand way

Kicking around on a piece of ground
In your home town
Waiting for someone or something
To show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long
And there time is still kill today

And then the one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun

And you run and you run
to catch up with the sun
But it's sinking

Racing around
To come up behind you again

The sun is the same
In a relative way
But you're older

Shorter of breath
And one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find time

Plans that either come to naught
Or half a page of scribbled lines

Hanging on in quiet desperation
Is the English way

The time is gone
The song is over
Thought I'd something more to say

Home
Home again
I like to be here
When I can

When I come home
Cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones
Beside the fire

Far away
Across the field
Tolling on the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spell

Call of duty: Black ops

Here are the reasons that I like this game:

1. I have been waiting for a very long time for first person shooter game that involved action from Vietnam war.

2. There are references to almost all of my favorite movies which happen to be about Vietnam war: Apocalypse now, Hamburger Hill, The Deer Hunter and etc.

3. The premise of the story and its timeline is in particular very interesting as opposed to older COD which dealt with either WWII or hyper new modern warfare.

4. The music in the game i.e. tracks by CCR and Rolling Stones fit very well with the atmosphere of the game.

5. The suspension in the main storyline and the cliffhanger revealing that Resnov is Mason's alter ego at the end is just one of the brilliant elements in the writing of the story.

And that's just off the top of my head, will definitely get back to this.

So mightily alright!

Massive snow landfall started yesterday and it is still continuing, seems like my prayer on the puking of the clouds is finally answered, is it the track aka spår calling for me? Or the slopes? I surely hope that this season includes some new and exciting adventures on the holy white powder.

Puke baby, puke!

Kåsa

From Wikipedia:

"English: Guksi (kuksa in Finnish, kåsa in Swedish) is a type of drinking cup traditionally duodji crafted by the Sami people of northern Scandinavia from carved birch burl. The burl is contoured to a rough shape, carefully dried to prevent the wood from cracking, then formed in accordance with the local traditions. Originally guksi were widely used in Arctic areas as a personal drinking cup; a well-made guksi would last a lifetime. Guksi was traditionally only rinsed with clean water and dried with a cloth after use. No detergents are used, since many people believe that it will damage a guksi.

The story of Jimmy

Jimmy was a cocky and hot-headed sparrow. One day he told his friends that "he couldn't take this s#&t anymore" and he wanted to start off his 'northbound adventure'. He said that he believed that "the north was were it's at" (whatever the hell that means!) and he couldn't bear hanging out with 'those losers' anymore so he basically headed north.

He flew and flew and flew. After a couple of days of flying, he got tired and noticed that the weather was getting colder. He continued and tried to ignore the fatigue and the cold but one day, at the peak of exhaustion and somewhat frustration, he found himself in a snow storm and next thing he knew, he was grounded as the winds and snow were smashing to his tired body. When he came to his senses, he was almost fully buried under the heavy snow and was shaking uncontrollably. He prayed to the god that he did not believe in to get out of this dismal ordeal and he promised 'to stop being cocky and treat his friends and others with respect'. All of a sudden, a moose called Johannes who was passing by and had not obviously seen him, dropped a massive crap on Jimmy. Jimmy was too tired to mind this but he soon noticed that the heat from the turd started to melt the snow around him and all of a sudden, he was enjoying the pleasant warmth and he totally forgot where he was and why he was there. He started singing from joy:

"All the leaves are brown
And the sky is grey
I've been for a walk
On a winter's day
I'd be save and warm
if I was in LA
California dreamin'
on such a winter's day..."

A fox named Vincenzo came by and heard Jimmy's voice. He saw Jimmy sitting for himself and singing joyfully in the middle of crap. He had not eaten anything proper for several days in that winter so in a blink of an eye, he pulled him out and ate him up.

Moral 1. If someone takes a crap on you, it doesn't necessarily mean that he wants to harm you rather he might be doing you good in an indirect way, it might be a solution to your already s#&!ty situation.

Moral 2. If someone takes you out of crap, it doesn't necessarily mean that he wants to help you, maybe  he wants to eat you afterwards.

Moral 3. If you find yourself in crap, keep quiet and enjoy the warmth, it might be the best for you.

Oh...so mightily!

First snow has landed today and I can't be happier about it. So happy that I don't know what got into me and I took my bike to work today, I can't remember when was the last time (if there has ever been a time at all!) that I rode my bike in the snow. Of course most of the trip to and from work will be done by train but still...

So glad that I just bought my cross country gear and I am almost good to go, looking very much forward to substatial workouts in the tracks and hopefully some consequent weight loss. That depends wholly if my prayer below is accepted by whoever is in charge of these issues:

"May the clouds puke mightily!"

By the way, this is how the city looks like today at 10:41 AM.

On a somewhat irrelavant and or perhaps quite relavant note, I said no to another trip to Courchevel with the guys althought it was quite 'painful' for me to say no them and also the Courchevel II post is still in draft (the latter is very unlikely to be materialized as it stands now). I did so in the hope of settling for new place which could be organized via other friends but that seems a bit far fetched now so...we'll see what happens, fingers crossed!

Long nights

Words by Eddie Vedder.

Have no fear
For when I'm alone
I'll be better off than I was before

I've got this light
I'll be around to grow
Who I was before
I cannot recall

Long nights allow me to feel...
I'm falling...I'm falling
The lights go out
Let me feel
I'm falling
I'm falling safely to the ground
Ah...

I'll take this soul that's inside me now
Like a brand new friend
I'll forever know

I've got this light
And the will to show
I will always be better than before

Long nights allow me to feel...
I'm falling...I'm falling
The lights go out
Let me feel
I'm falling
I'm falling safely yo the ground

My god it has been so long, never dreamed you'd return
But now here you are, and here I am
Hearts and thought they fade...away..."

Battle for Haditha

This is very strong and disturbing film made by Nick Broomfield, a documentary maker with outstanding film record.  The plot, as mentioned early in the movie is about:

"On 19th of November 2005 an IED bomb planted in the roadside in Haditha, Iraq killed 1 marine and injured 2 others.

In the following hours marines killed 24 Iraqi men, women and children."

The movie has been shot in the style of documentary and it took me quite some time to realize that it is not actually a documentary. The drama is so strong that it made me emotional at times during the movie. I firstly aimed all my hatred to the marines and I was hoping that they all would vanish despite knowing the outcome of the story. But then I noticed that both sides were crying (or rather bleeding) heavily after all the dust had settled. The audience inevitably aims his emotions toward the leaders of the both sides who manipulate the minds of their followers and fire up the war with disregard to its casualties or consequences.

Once again, it was confirmed for me that "The first casualty of war is innocence."

A very fine piece of movie and yet another great work by Broomfield nonetheless.

Der Untergang

This movie depicts the last ten days in the 'downfall' of Nazi Germany in WWII with the main focus on the events happening in and around Führerbunker with all the people involved. The  film mostly follows Hitler's secretary Traudl Junge with her actual monologues in the opening and closing of the movie.

The main elements that I saw in this movie were:
- Fear
- Fanaticism
- Despair
- Loyalty
- Discipline
- Cruelty of war
- Pride
- Devastation of a city, country, culture and a civilization

It is also nice to see that not all the Deutschland and whatever/whoever related to the war was pure evil rather that there were human beings with feelings and human concerns even among the high ranking officials of Nazi regime in the midst of the most difficult circumstances. The movie despite its tough structure and scenes, is heavily emotional at times with great acting as well as directing which makes it a fine work of cinema.

My tours

In the honor of this year's Tour de France (?) and in order to be worthy of wearing the "Ambit", I got tired of all the rain, my petty sicknesses and the useless waiting and kicked off my bike tours from work to home. The first one went for 1 hour and 15 minutes i.e. 14 Rammstein songs. Hopefully, I will be able to get more data on these tours with the help of Moveslink. Picture above shows my ride on the train on the way TO and not FROM work.

Pearl Jam on July 7, 2012

This concert turned out to be much better than what I expected, all thanks to the energy and glow of Eddie Vedder who smoked and drank to a considerable amount on stage: first frontman that I have ever seen to do so. He was as high or rather as hyper as his early days with the exception of not climbing the stage or anything similar! I thought that the crowd which are more into heavy metal and etc. here in Sweden would be quite dull when it comes to PJ music. On the contrary, I was very surprised to see that alomst everyone  responded very well to the band and Ed. In fact, this was the only concert that we had seats on the side row but we ended up standing for the whole 3 hours! I also noticed that many of the people attending were not Swedes (saw a couple of Italian flags and so on) and that could actually be the reason behind the atmosphere ;-) Anyway, I have to say that, at least for myself, seeing the film Pearl Jam 20 before the concert was a great help in getting to know the band on a more personal level (I didn't even know their names before but now, I really like Stone Gossard!)  and the track list, as seen below, was more than acceptable with a few minor disappointments which include "Release" and "Rearviewmirror". Also, I would have been very happier if he played "Long nights" or "Guaranteed" from Into The Wild. On the bright side, Matt Cameron on the drums, whom was and still is my favorite in Soundgraden after Chris Cornell was really remarkable. The fact that they opened with "Elderly woman..." was also something that can not be ignored as well as "Rockin' in the free world" which I thought to be the last song but they played another one afterward to leave an extra cherry on top.

Drop the King!

On April the 4th, Pedro Pinto of cnn.com wrote why he thinks that Kenny Dalglish should be fired. He wrote:

"Perhaps you have seen this statistic before: Since January 1, Liverpool have picked up only eight points in the English Premier League. Only Wolves, rooted firmly to the bottom of the table, have been worse.

Yes, these are trying times for a club that once dominated domestic and international football. With only seven matches remaining, the Reds are closer to the relegation zone than the Champions League places and seem to be heading nowhere fast. One thing is clear, a change of direction is needed and it is needed now.

At various times this season I have been criticized, on my blog and on Twitter, for writing that Kenny Dalglish should be sacked as Liverpool manager. Surely now, even the most passionate fans have to start questioning their idol and the role he should have at the club.
This season has been quite simply a disaster for the Scottish coach. From his decision to spend a fortune on average players, to supporting Luis Suarez during a racism row, to overseeing the worse run of form at the club since the 1950s, it has been a campaign to forget.
For those of you who are thinking of February's League Cup final victory, I’ll come back to it. For now though, let’s focus on the mistakes.
Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson, Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing. What do they have in common? They had won no major trophies when they moved to Liverpool. Furthermore, only Adam had ever played in the Champions League and none of them had ever been part of a successful top-level team.
So the question is, what on earth possessed Dalglish (with the backing of the club's director of football Damien Comolli) to spend a combined £80 million ($125 million) on them? No-one knows. They were average players, with some potential, but to dish out that kind of cash was just insane.
Mistake number two saw Dalglish completely misjudge the Suarez incident, in which the forward was found guilty of racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra.
Instead of waiting to find out what had happened, he blindly stood behind his striker and even sanctioned the move to make t-shirts supporting the Uruguayan, who was subsequently banned for eight matches. There was no apology, there was no remorse, there was not even the simple questioning of his player’s actions.
Only after Liverpool's American owners got involved – following Suarez’s decision not to shake Evra’s hand before a league match after a suspension that left Dalglish without one of his most important players – did he reluctantly come out and criticize his pupil.
Finally, Dalglish's management skills have been questionable at best. Liverpool have had one plan all season, 4-3-3, and it hasn’t worked.
I know that Brazil midfielder Lucas Leiva has been injured, and captain Steven Gerrard was out of action for a long time, but Dalglish has still failed to get the best of any of his top players. Has he really spent time on the training ground working on the strike partnership between Suarez and Carroll? I doubt it. Has he even decided where to play them?
And what about Downing, Craig Bellamy and Dirk Kuyt? They rarely seem to know what they’re doing and where they should be playing. To put it simply, it’s a shambles. No wonder Liverpool have lost six of the last seven league games.
The impression I get is that Dalglish thought he could manage a team now just like he managed it with great success more than 20 years ago. Motivating and shouting might have worked back then, but it certainly doesn’t work now. The Premier League is a place where managers need to have one, two, maybe even three strategies to implement during games. I am still not sure Dalglish has one he can count on.
So back to the League Cup. I am sorry Liverpool fans, but this doesn’t make the season much better. So you won a trophy for the first time since 2006, but does it really matter? Liverpool beat an average second division side, after a penalty shootout, in a competition where most teams play their reserves – and all it earns is a place in the second-tier Europa League next season.
Is that the way forward, is that what Liverpool really want? I doubt it. Just ask Birmingham City supporters. They celebrated winning the League Cup at Wembley only to see their team relegated a few months later.
So if Dalglish is not the solution, who is? I would definitely find a way to get him out at the end of this season and I would bring in a new man with new ideas.
Forget Rafa Benitez, there is too much history there already and many players wouldn’t be too happy to have him back. Instead Liverpool need someone like Germany coach Joachim Low, Marseille's Didier Deschamps, maybe even Brendan Rodgers of Swansea - one of the Premier League's surprise packages this season.
"They need someone young and dynamic to turn the place around, and they need to do it fast."

Obviously, loads of comments were poured in, most of against the writer. While I personally do not regard Pinto a very credible analyst, I agreed in most terms with him on the case of my beloved Reds. So I put the following comment:
April 8th, 2012 9:27 am ET
As much as I have respect and love for Kenny, I must agree with Pedro to a great extent. Let's be realistic and don't allow our love and passion for LFC blind us. If we had ANY manager other than Kenny, he would have been fired long ago given the performance and the results that he has produced (remember Roy Hodgson former manager of the year, came in from Fulham and...). We have stuck with Kenny because EVERYONE loves him and that's that. His signings have shown to be complete disappointments (Carrol is just the tip of iceberg and I agree with the guy who said that he will NEVER turn for good) and he has failed as a manager when it mattered (How on earth could you blow a 2-1 lead and lose 2-3 to QPR?). The League Cup victory however joyful for us fans longing for silverware since 06 does not weigh as much as some people have suggested, remember we were trailing in the shoot-out and if it weren't for luck and our prayers we would have lost that to a second division side. The days of old school management are long gone and over and Kenny himself has been away from the action since the last time he managed a side and seems to be not in touch with his squad in terms of strategy, side selection and spiritual uplift of his boys. I would really like to see young new faces with fresh ideas to turn things around, the likes of Deschamps, Klinsmann (though he is unavailable), or even Villas-Boas (given enough patience) would be the way forward rather an old school charismatic figure with blunt manager skills.
Now things have changed slightly since then. We managed to reach the FA cup final by beating Everton (always great to beat your city rivals) thanks to a huge defensive blunder which somehow overshadows this as an achievement in my  book and Comolli has been fired. We lost today at home (revenge of Hodgson!) despite missing one chance after another. This new 'low' (which tops many other lows in this season) triggered me come out of my long hibernation and stand even more firmly on my comment above. We have to let KD go even if by some miracle we win FA cup...which in all honesty-and it really hurts to say it- I have very difficulties to see it happen.

Sverige

Du gamla, Du fria, Du fjällhöga nord
Du tysta, Du glädjerika sköna!
Jag hälsar Dig, vänaste land uppå jord,
Din sol, Din himmel, Dina ängder gröna.

Du tronar på minnen från fornstora dar,
då ärat Ditt namn flög över jorden.
Jag vet att Du är och Du blir vad Du var.
Ja, jag vill leva, jag vill dö i Norden.

Ich will eure Hände sehen
In Beifall untergehen

Seht ihr mich?
Versteht ihr mich?
Fühlt ihr mich?
Hört ihr mich?

Könnt ihr mich hören?
Wir hören dich
Könnt ihr mich sehen?
Wir sehen dich
Könnt ihr mich fühlen?
